Really? More acronyms.......

This is a great resource, but it is big and the font is small. They also use a lot of acronyms you need to remember, albeit easy, but still more nevertheless. Since this is a resource for you to learn and pass the PMP test, having to memorize chart acronyms is a bit much. With smarter layout they could avoid this.

In general was OK but could have been a better product

Product was OK, but in my opinion I think it was quite big and I would have prefered to have be like a laminated sheet in order to preserve it better.

The idea behind Julia Cameron's The Artist's Way is that by writing three pages, longhand and stream-of consciousness, first thing in the morning, you can overcome the obstacles that stop you from becoming your most creative self. This works partly because it forces you to create something (even if it is just a long list of gripes) every single day. It doesn't take much time. You're not even supposed to think. But the act itself gets you past all that self-defeating fretting about why you think you aren't a creative person. Cameron sees her morning pages as "a form of meditation," as "spiritual windshield wipers."

While Cameron touts the morning pages as a way of life, she suggests you start out doing them as part of a "twelve-week program to recover your creativity." Nice ornamental companion, but definitely not necessary

I purchased this because I thought it would be basically an empty journal as a companion to the workbook. There are a lot of pages with repeated text from the workbook in it, so for me, that's wasted journaling space when I already have the workbook. In short, depending on your particular needs, you could use this by itself, otherwise just invest in some college ruled notebooks for the journaling.

Adjustments Needed

I love this journal and the new format including the Artist Dates in the back. However, I was unable to give this journal 5 stars because of the following issues:

1) There are not enough lined pages to write the three pages in long hand each day. Near the end of the twelve weeks, I have to paste in extra pages. Usually, for the last couple of days there's only room for one lined page. This is a frustrating problem .

2) The wired binding pulls away and I have to tighten it to prevent it from coming out of the book. I hope you can remedy these issues.

If not, I will not be purchasing the item in 2018. I usually purchase three of these journals each year so I can set them up and date them .

Thanks you for the excellent content. I especially like that the quotes are now at the bottom of each page. I hope you can fix the other issues .

Always Brilliant!

Perfect size, perfect paper, love the text excerpts! I take them to the bindery and have the spine cut off , punched and spiral bound and front.back plastic covers added. That all costs $9.00 but it is worth it to me because it allows the journal to lay flat and stay there. Also you can fold and flip for easy writing on the back sides of the pages. "Ya folla"?" I buy 12 at a time and save on shipping! Mazeltov, Julia!

Great book to get jump started with DataPower

I purchased this book at Amazon to use as a reference for a DataPower implementation and to supplement basic DataPower training. It has been very helpful as a reference and has an easy-to-read style (for a technical book) that has made it possible to read it from cover to cover. The book provides numerous examples with screen snapshots. Interestingly, the examples typically are associated with a book purchase service :). Our project is using DataPower systems for web services security, service virtualization, routing, web service enabling MQ�, logging and complex XML transformation. These topics are covered extensively in the book. I strongly recommend this book if you are launching a DataPower project.

Best DataPower Resource Available

Disclaimer - I work for IBM in DataPower Technical Sales and I know 3 of the 5 authors of this book.

That being said, this is an excellent, long-overdue treatise on DataPower. The "DataPower Bible" if you will.

My first exposure to DataPower was in March of 2007. The idea of pushing expensive software functions (xml/crypto) into hardware was an epiphany for me.

I decided to pursue this with vigor.

My initial excitement was tempered by the huge learning curve that awaited me. DataPower information was fragmented and the extensive capabilities of the device challenged me to learn many new things.

There was never a single, authoritative source for DataPower information and best practices.......until now!!!

I am now carrying these 900 pages in my backpack and insisting that my customers purchase this book.

When I have a customer question, I go to the Index or search the online version....this is my first reference for all questions DataPower.

Even after 2 years of on-the-job experience, I am still exclaiming "ah-hahs" when I research things in this book.

I highly recommend this book for anybody that works with DataPower on a regular basis.

Be aware which volumes you're buying, 2nd edition split into multiple books.

The reviews here for the older volume are applicable to the suite of books this is now split into. This second edition book here is now only and intro and quick-setup guide enhancement, not the 900 page combined volume the reviews below state.

There's some valuable pieces in here in defining some of the services that IBM's RedBook documentation glances over that help the broader understanding of the appliances. If you're looking for the more technical deep dive sections, you'll need one of the other volumes.

All library managers sooner or later will have to implement change; as Clayton has pointed out, it is essential to 'expect the unexpected,' so some familiarity with what may lie ahead must be better than none. You can build a successful "people business" from this!

As a beginning PhD business man (1973) I read and used Up the Organization to build a successful PhD managed, high tech analytical lab. The insights added in Further Up the Organization stand today as the critical backdrop to leading your people and organization through rapid change and growth. This serves as a compatible platform for initiating JIT, TQM and other management fads that might work "if-you-do-it-right". The section on computers and their priests plays as well in the desktop world as it did in the mainframe world. Unfortunately we cannot stop Microsoft from givings features we don't need but which eat memory and CPU cycles.
The sections on PEOPLE, TOO MUCH, LEADERSHP, MISTRESSES, FIRING PEOPLE, AND INCENTIVE COMPSENSATION are classics which remain as useful today as in 1970. You would never know that this book is almost 30 years old.
When I have a difficult management or people problem, I review the relevant sections for a grounding in common sense. I have tried to order a copy for each of my employees, but it is out of print. Let us hope that Robert Townsend puts a few updates on this commen sense book and saves more business folks from themselves!

Outstanding brain food for up and coming CEO's

As a member of the up and coming CEO's of the world (my plan), Further Up The Orcanization is an execellent piece of stimuli for those of us who like to engage our brains in the big picture. If you are one that is fortunate enough to be able to see the forest through the tree and understand how the total solution is the right solution then this book is for you.
It is easy to read and fast. The topics are arranged from A to Z with a one page snap shot of the "answer" to business question and organization issues. While other books attempt to help you understand everything from your inner business self to business lessons through the eyes of a piss ant (remember those who can't do teach, or in most cases write books on the subject), Townsend's book should be considered the manual. Be ensured that if you follow these simple practices your company will be on the way to the top 100 (the company I work for lives by this book and we are ranker number 5 by Fortune this year, our first year under review).
For those fortunant enough to be stepping out on your own, this book is a reminded and a refresher for you to being successful. Interesting that a book writen first in the early 70's then updated in 85 still holds so true for today, ie not a business fad book. After all the bible is still on the best seller list.
