Congratulations....you're pregnant with your best friends baby.

"The Baby That Changed Her Life" by Louisa Heaton is an enjoyable, fast read. The book flows easily and makes the reader kind of want to keep reading to find out how the story will end.
We meet best friends Callie Taylor and Dr. Lucas Gold. Callie has never wanted to be a Mother thanks to the way she grew up with an alcoholic Mother who didn't care about her. Lucas and Callie have known each other since they were children and he has always been there for her. When Callie agrees to become a surrogate for her best friend and his wife she does this knowing that she would give the baby up to be raised by them and she would get visitation rights. Things start to fall apart when Lucas's wife leaves him. Callie and Lucas are now thrown together in a parental way. Lucas is silently thrilled since he has loved Callie for a long time, but Callie is torn about what to do. She is still scared to become the only Mother figure the baby will know, and she has become more attached to the baby than she thought possible.
This story is their journey of how the best laid plans can go awry. Also, growing up and learning that sometimes life doesn't turn out the way we expect it to.

self doubts repeated over and over throughout story like a broken record.

Lucas, and Callie has been best friends since childhood. Lucas is married, but his wife cannot get pregnant. Callie agrees to be their surrogate. She finds out she is pregnant when Lucas's wife leaves him, asking for a divorce.
There was always a special bond that went beyond friendship that simmered between Callie, and Lucas. The two didn't fight for it, and was afraid to embrace the love between them. Callie had a rotten childhood. I get that. I did too. half of all the children in the world had a crappy childhood. Callie's self doubts, said over, and over throughout the book made me want to put my head through a brick wall. I can see reading a message once or twice, but any more than that is just annoying.
I did finish this book. I have to say I had never been more happy to finish a book. I enjoyed the ending. I'm glad the two decided to go for it, and give each other a chance. this book is the perfect example of the quote, " In the end we only regret the chances we didn't take." Thank goodness the two took the chance, and fought for the love that was right there the whole time.

You get so sucked into this book

Beware: You get so sucked into this book, it is SUPER hard to put down!!! But isn't that the BEST kind of book??
I was lucky enough to win an advanced copy of The Baby That Changed Her Life from Louisa Heaton herself, and I am so very grateful I did because I love, love, love this book!!
First I'd like to say that I just love and adore Harlequin books so much. I devour so many of them. There are so many great authors, and Louisa Heaton easily becomes one of my favorites with this book. You fall IMMEDIATELY into this story and feel like you know all the characters right from the beginning. I completely adore Callie. I could NOT put down this book, because I wanted to be there for Callie and Lucas's journey. I could not wait to see how their love story would enfold. I love best friends to happily ever after novels!!!! Sigh... this novel was perfect!
This is Louisa's very 1st Harlequin Medical Romance book and she nailed it!!! I hope she writes many, MANY more!
You know that feeling you get after you read an incredibly awesome book, the feeling where you don't know what to read next, because the book you just read was so awesome.... Yep, that's exactly how I feel.
I most definitely recommend this book!
